Immigration,  residence and work permit issues

relocate to Denmark

U.S. citizens needs residence and work permit in order to live and reside in Denmark.

Few years ago Denmark has approved double citizenship. If an individual has both U.S. and Danish citizen ship residence and work permits are not to be obtained.

If you do not have double citizenship, the permits should be obtained before arriving in Denmark. They can be obtained in the Embassy of Denmark in Washington or at Danish consulates in the U.S.

A U.S. citizen to relocate to Denmark also needs a personal identification number (socalled CPR number). It is recommended that this number is obtained in the U.S. before entering Denmark at a Danish consulate in the U.S.
